What about America Online?

Version 3 of America Online uses a slightly modified version of Internet Explorer 2 as its built-in browser. Thus, data is cached using the multiple file methodology. Cache files are stored in:

System Folder:Preferences:America Online:Cache

Prior to version 3, America Online used its own built-in browser which cached data using the multiple file methodology. However, it did not store the cache files in the Preferences folder; it stored them in the America Online application folder.

What is a "cookie" and is it safe to have one?

A cookie used to be simply a tasty dessert treat. In today's techno-speak world, though, a cookie refers to a small bit of data that a web server permanently stores on a user's computer for later retrieval. This supposed "invasion of privacy" infuriates many people and, as a result, there has been quite an uprising against cookies in the past few years.
